Makes America Vulnerable to Terrorism
US missed three chances to seize
Bin Laden
The Sunday Times of London 01/06/2002
PRESIDENT Bill Clinton turned down at least three offers involving foreign
governments to help to seize Osama Bin Laden after he was identified as a
terrorist who was threatening America, according to sources in Washington
and the Middle East.
Clinton himself, according to one Washington source, has described the
refusal to accept the first of the offers as "the biggest mistake" of his
presidency.
The main reasons were legal: there was no evidence that could be brought
against Bin Laden in an American court. But former senior intelligence
sources accuse the administration of a lack of commitment to the fight
against terrorism.
When Sudanese officials claimed late last year that Washington had spurned
Bin Laden's secret extradition from Khartoum in 1996, former White House
officials said they had no recollection of the offer. Senior sources in the
former administration now confirm that it was true.
An Insight investigation has revealed that far from being an isolated
incident this was the first in a series of missed opportunities right up to
Clinton's last year in office. One of these involved a Gulf state; another
would have relied on the assistance of Saudi Arabia.
In early 1996 America was putting strong pressure on Sudan's Islamic
government to expel Bin Laden, who had been living there since 1991. Sources
now reveal that Khartoum sent a former intelligence officer with Central
Intelligence Agency connections to Washington with an offer to hand over Bin
Laden — just as it had put another terrorist, Carlos the Jackal, into French
hands in 1994.
At the time the State Department was describing Bin Laden as "the greatest
single financier of terrorist projects in the world" and was accusing Sudan
of harbouring terrorists. The extradition offer was turned down, however. A
former senior White House source said: "There simply was not the evidence to
prosecute Osama Bin Laden. He could not be indicted, so it would serve no
purpose for him to have been brought into US custody."
A former figure in American counterterrorist intelligence claims, however,
that there was "clear and convincing" proof of Bin Laden's conspiracy
against America. In May, 1996, American diplomats were informed in a
Sudanese government fax that Bin Laden was about to be expelled — giving
Washington another chance to seize him. The decision not to do so went to
the very top of the White House, according to former administration sources.
They say that the clear focus of American policy was to discourage the state
sponsorship of terrorism. So persuading Khartoum to expel Bin Laden was in
itself counted as a clear victory. The administration was "delighted".
Bin Laden took off from Khartoum on May 18 in a chartered C-130 plane with
150 of his followers, including his wives. He was bound for Jalalabad in
eastern Afghanistan. On the way the plane refuelled in the Gulf state of
Qatar, which has friendly relations with Washington, but he was allowed to
proceed unhindered.
Barely a month later, on June 25, a 5,000lb truck bomb ripped apart the
front of Khobar Towers, a US military housing complex in Dhahran, Saudi
Arabia. The explosion killed 19 American servicemen. Bin Laden was
immediately suspected.
Clinton is reported to have admitted how things went wrong in Sudan at a
private dinner at a Manhattan restaurant shortly after September 11 last
year. According to a witness, Clinton told a dinner companion that the
decision to let Bin Laden go was probably "the biggest mistake of my
presidency".
Clinton could not be reached for comment yesterday, but a former senior
White House official acknowledged that the Sudan episode had been a
"screw-up".
A second offer to get Bin Laden came unofficially from Mansoor Ijaz, a
Pakistani-American millionaire who was a donor to Clinton's election
campaign in 1996. On July 6, 2000, he visited John Podesta, then the
president's chief of staff, to say that intelligence officers from a Gulf
state were offering to help to extract Bin Laden.
Details of the meeting are confirmed in an exchange of e-mails between the
White House and Ijaz, which have been seen by The Sunday Times. According to
Ijaz, the offer involved setting up an Islamic relief fund to aid
Afghanistan in return for the Taliban handing over Bin Laden to the Gulf
state. America could then extract Bin Laden from there.
The Sunday Times has established that after a fierce internal row about the
sincerity of the offer, the White House responded by sending Richard Clarke,
Clinton's most senior counterterrorism adviser, to meet the rulers of the
United Arab Emirates. They denied there was any such offer. Ijaz, however,
maintained that the White House had thereby destroyed the deal, which was to
have been arranged only through unofficial channels. Ijaz said that weeks
later on a return trip to the Gulf he was taken on a late-night ride into
the desert by his contact who told him that Clarke's front-door approach had
upset a delicate internal balance and blown the deal. "Your government has
missed a major opportunity," he recalls being told.
Senior former government sources said that Ijaz's offer had been treated in
good faith but, with the denial of the UAE government, there was nothing to
suggest it had credibility.
A third more mysterious offer to help came from the intelligence services of
Saudi Arabia, then led by Prince Turki al-Faisal, according to Washington
sources. Details of the offer are still unclear although, by one account,
Turki offered to help to place a tracking device in the luggage of Bin
Laden's mother, who was seeking to make a trip to Afghanistan to see her
son. The CIA did not take up the offer.
Richard Shelby, the leading Republican on the Senate intelligence committee,
said he was aware of a Saudi offer to help although, under rules protecting
classified information, he was unable to discuss the details of any offer.
Commenting generally, he said: "I don't believe that the fight against
terrorism was the number one goal of the Clinton administration."

1993-
A humanitarian operation in Somalia is transformed into a military strike,
where Clinton refuses to authorize the availability of armor for proper
support. When the ill-supported operation leads to American casualties, Clinton
overrides military requests and refuses to allow a properly outfitted
military counter-strike. Within a few months, he
withdraws American forces, sending the message that a "bloody nose" is the
only thing necessary for the United States to back down.
1995-1996
- Clinton institutes "Citizenship USA" which pressures the US Department of
Justice's Immigration and Naturalization Service to naturalize some
1,000,000 new immigrants, even though many had incomplete background checks.
This allowed for criminals and terrorists to enter America.
Whistleblowers to these activities
and the large scale selling of Green Cards, were physically threatened and
terminated.
August 20, 1998
- The Clinton Administration demonstrates a perfunctory response toward
terrorism after the assault on two U.S. embassies in Africa. On Aug. 7,
1998. The U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam,
Tanzania, were bombed by terrorists, leaving 258 people dead and more than
5,000 injured. Some 1,000 were permanently blinded by flying glass.
The U.S. Launches cruise missiles, striking an empty terrorism training
complex in Afghanistan and destroying a pharmaceutical manufacturing
facility in Khartoum, Sudan. Both targets were claimed to have been financed
by Osama bin Laden, but many feel that the ill-planned strike was simply
done to deflect legal problems President Clinton was having with Monica
Lewinsky.
The Afghanistan training facility attack
fails to get Bin Laden because the Clinton Administration gives Pakistani
Intelligence prior notice of their intentions. Pakistani Intelligence
had long been known to have elements sympathetic to Al Quaida. They
proceeded to give Bin Laden warning and he escaped. There was no follow-up and Bin Laden was
again buoyed by our meek
approach to the growing terrorist menace.
1999 - The
Clinton Administration decides to show the Islamic world that America is
more than willing to kill European Christians to court their favor.
He provokes war on the Serbs, our only
historic friend in the European Balkans. Clinton gives the Serbs
the choice of either accepting
The Ramboouillet Accords...
or being destroyed from the air. He supports the Islamist,
Al Qaeda allied Kosovo Liberation Army (responsible for running the drug and
prostitution trade in Europe). He authorizes the bombing of Serb
civilian targets such as bridges, hospitals and heating plants, which leads
to the death of over 5,000 Serb civilians. This action sets the stage
for creating a radical Islamic base in the "belly" of Europe.
October 12, 2000 - Terrorism strikes and
almost sinks the Destroyer USS Cole in Yemen. President Bill Clinton
does nothing. Reinforces the perception that the United States lacks
the will to either defend itself or battle terrorism in spite of
considerable loss of life. There was no follow-up.
After the 1993 World
Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured
1,000; President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted
down and punished.
After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five US military
personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down
and punished.
After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19
and injured 200 US military personnel; Clinton promised that those
responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1998 bombing of US embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and
injured 5,000; Clinton promised that those responsible! would be hunted
down! and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39
US sailors; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down
and punished.
Maybe if Clinton had kept his promise, an estimated 3,000 people in New
York and Washington, DC that are now dead would be alive today.

The Bill Clinton, Janet Reno, US Department
of Justice Immigration & Naturalization Service's legacy of incompetence and
corruption, enables the slow, savage murder/beheadings of Daniel Pearl, followed by
Nick Berg, Paul M. Johnson and Eugene Armstrong. Domestic sleeper cells
threaten that this could happen to any American.
Eugene Armstrong was murdered on Sept. 20, 2004. Of all videos, his
is perhaps the most graphic. Caution in watching is suggested,
although it is the only way to fully appreciate the sadistic, savage and
bloodthirsty threat that exists to Western Civilization unless these
creatures are eradicated. In a few years they will have nuclear
weapons. And they look forward to using them unless we surrender all
we hold dear.
At the end of this movie, the depraved enemy
states that what happened to Mr. Pearl can happen to ANY American.

Muslim Students on American college campus' Threaten
violence if "Obsession" is shown
December 10, 2006 (c) DOJgov.net
newswire
With academic freedom seemingly under siege at American Universities
by radical left and Islamist forces, there has been a concerted
attempt at keeping the documentary "Obsession," from being shown on
campus by legitimate student groups. Obsession has already been
viewed by millions throughout the world as a definitive documentary on
the nature of Islamist extremism and their goals of destroying Western
Civilization.
Pace University, New York City was scheduled to show Obsession.
This viewing was sponsored by a long established moderate student
organization.
The event was cancelled due to protests from the
Muslim Students Association (MSA),
who had been graciously invited to participate in the event. Instead,
the MSA issued threats of incitement, hateful emails, and anti-Semitic
slurs. Pace administrators opted for censorship and threatened
to level anti-Moslem hate crime charges against the decades old
student group, unless they cancelled the showing
A
similar scenario took place at Brown
University when a student group planned to invite one of the featured
speakers in Obsession. Again, the Muslim Students Association (MSA)
chapter at Brown protested the event, complaining that the speaker was
"too controversial." After a heated debate, the
sponsoring student
organization backed down and cancelled the event. Brown's Muslim
community reacted by holding anti-Western events during "Palestinian
Solidarity Week."
The Muslim Students Association (MSA)
is a radical campus group with chapters on 150 college campuses across
North America. They paint themselves as a moderate peace loving
organization. On the other hand, chapter websites have featured propaganda of Osama
bin Laden and Saddam Hussein and have also solicited funds for Hamas,
Hezbollah, and the Holy Land Foundation. The latter is an Islamic charity shut down
by the U.S. government due to its terrorist ties. The MSA has sponsored
rallies and held conferences where speakers praised Hamas and chanted
"Death to the Jews." Other statements have been far from America
friendly.
